Course Report

TPC Piper Glen has hosted the Home Depot Invitational Champions Tour event and is one of only a few Arnold Palmer designs in the Carolinas.

About

TPC Piper Glen is a private Arnold Palmer-designed 18-hole course blending challenge, playability, and scenic North Carolina landscapes. The course stretches across 6,936 yards of rolling hills and water features, hosting former Champions Tour events. Renowned for its beauty and excellent conditions, Piper Glen offers both casual and competitive golf in the Charlotte region.

Caddie Tip

Be mindful of elevation changes and the natural slopes on approach shots, especially on holes with water hazards. Greens are extensive yet undulating, so aim for the correct section for easier putts. Local knowledge pays off on blind tee shots, with conservative play often rewarded over aggressive lines.

The Main Challenge

The toughest part of TPC Piper Glen is contending with water hazards and elevation changes on several holes, demanding accuracy off the tee and strategic approaches. Fast, multi-tiered greens place a premium on putting skill and course management, especially when the greens are rolling at tournament speeds.

The Good

Members and guests praise the strategic design and memorable finishing holes, as well as the scenic use of water and tree-lined fairways. The layout never gets boring, offering varied shot values and a fresh challenge even for regulars. Staff are accommodating and service is consistently high quality.

The Not So Good

Some golfers mention that greens can become extremely firm and quick in the summer, making approaches and putting more challenging. Occasional slow play during weekend peak hours can detract from the experience. A few would like to see modernization of locker room amenities.
