Course Report
The course was purchased and extensively renovated by the Trump Organization, transforming the original Shadow Isle Golf Course into a top-tier private club with world-class amenities.
About
Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck is a private, championship-level course designed by Jerry Pate in 2005. Known for its immaculate Bentgrass surfaces, dramatic bunkering, and extensive practice facilities, it offers a demanding layout set within a tranquil Monmouth County locale. The club caters exclusively to members and boasts a prestigious reputation for luxury and service.
Caddie Tip
The best strategy for newcomers is to pay careful attention on the par 4s, where the length, bunker placement, and water hazards can be deceiving. Playing for the center of greens and staying below the hole is crucial, as greens are quick and undulating.
The Main Challenge
The greatest challenge is navigating the high slope rating and championship length, with demanding tee shots and cleverly placed hazards that penalize poor decisions. Fast, undulating Bentgrass greens require precise putting, making every approach shot and lag putt essential for scoring.
The Good
Members consistently praise the pristine course conditions and the challenging, well-designed layout. The exceptional maintenance, scenic views, and welcoming atmosphere set the club apart, making rounds feel prestigious and memorable.
The Not So Good
Some golfers would like increased variety in the rough and improved pace of play during busy member events. Occasional complaints focus on bunker maintenance after rainfall and the lack of natural terrain changes compared to top-ranked national layouts.
