Course Report
Victory Ranch offers over 4 miles of private fly fishing along the Upper Provo River and 12 miles of trails in addition to its acclaimed golf course.
About
Victory Ranch Golf Club is a private, Rees Jones-designed 18-hole course stretching over 7,599 yards amid Utah’s high country wilderness near Park City. Opened in 2009, the course features dramatic elevation changes, panoramic mountain vistas, Bentgrass greens and fairways, and is known for its scenic setting and challenging play.
Caddie Tip
On most holes, elevation change is a major factor—carefully club up or down based on dramatic rises and drops throughout the round. Wind is also a persistent challenge, especially on exposed holes like the 17th. Play conservatively into greens to avoid tough recovery shots, and leave approaches below the hole to take advantage of fast, sloping greens.
The Main Challenge
Victory Ranch's toughest challenge is its combination of length, elevation, and constantly changing wind. Errant shots are punished by natural hazards, tricky mountain lies, and deep bunkers. Precision off the tee is key, but managing distance on downhill approaches is equally vital to score well.
The Good
Golfers rave about the panoramic mountain vistas from nearly every hole and the sense of seclusion, with wildlife, tranquil silence, and a natural setting rarely found on other courses. The Rees Jones routing uses the elevation brilliantly, delivering unforgettable downhill shots and views, especially late in the round, with multiple stand-out holes.
The Not So Good
Some players find the course’s long forced carries and elevation-induced wind make it quite penal for higher handicaps. There have also been requests for expanded practice facilities, and at times, early and late season conditions can be unpredictable due to the mountain climate.
Signature Hole:
#
17
The 17th hole is a par 3 that exemplifies Victory Ranch’s dramatic elevation, playing downhill nearly 200 feet with expansive views of the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains. Club selection is crucial, as wind and elevation can impact the shot significantly. This hole is both breathtaking and challenging, thrilling golfers with its setting and demands.
Clubhouse
The Clubhouse provides locker rooms, a full-service dining grill with an outdoor patio, a golf shop, and member lounges. Additional amenities include private event space and social gathering areas, all overlooking the course and mountain views.
Practice Facilities
Facilities include a modern driving range, short game practice area, and bentgrass putting green. The golf shop stocks premium equipment, and there are professional instruction opportunities, but practice areas are considered excellent for a private club of this size.
