Course Report

The Virtues Golf Club was formerly known as Longaberger Golf Club and consistently ranks in Golf Digest’s Top 100 Public Courses in America, holding the number one public course spot in Ohio.

About

Virtues Golf Club is Ohio’s top-ranked public course, designed by Arthur Hills in 1999. Known for its championship-quality layout, the course weaves through dramatic ridges and valleys, offering numerous elevation changes, panoramic views, and challenging holes amid a parkland setting. Renowned for excellent conditions, strategic bunkering, and scenic beauty, it appeals to all skill levels.

Caddie Tip

Pay careful attention to the elevation changes throughout the round—shots tend to play shorter than yardage on downhill approaches. On the signature 4th hole, favor placement over length to set up the best angle for your second shot; the greens tend to run true but can be quick, so stay below the hole wherever possible.

The Main Challenge

Virtues’ greatest challenge comes from its dramatic elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers and water hazards. Approaches often require precision and correct club selection due to swirling winds and uneven lies. The back nine, especially holes 14–18, demand excellent shot-making and course management to score well and finish strong.

The Good

Golfers rave about the course’s scenic vistas, excellent conditioning, and the dramatic routing through the rolling hills. The holes deliver a memorable mix of challenge and beauty, particularly the thrilling elevation drops and panoramic views, which consistently leave a lasting impression and make repeat plays highly enjoyable.

The Not So Good

Many golfers comment that rough areas can be quite penal and that lost balls are a risk off the fairway. Practice facilities are strong, but some wish for more short-game options and higher attention to bunker consistency, especially after heavy weather.
