Course Report

Vuissens Golf Club sits beside a twelfth-century castle, and over 5,000 trees were planted to create its parkland setting during construction.

About

Vuissens Golf Club, designed by Jeremy Pern, is an 18-hole par 72 layout nestled amid forests, rivers, and water features near a medieval castle. Opened in 2002, the course offers undulating terrain, fine fescue roughs, and a variety of holes, delivering a strong challenge and a scenic setting. It is well-regarded among Switzerland's most beautiful courses.

Caddie Tip

Plan your round conservatively and avoid overreaching on the many risk-reward holes framed by water and mature trees. Pay special attention to approach shots, as many greens are well-guarded by bunkers and water hazards, rewarding accurate iron play and thoughtful club selection. Use a conservative strategy when in doubt.

The Main Challenge

The toughest aspect at Vuissens is navigating the strategic placement of water hazards and mature tree lines. Undulating terrain and several risk-reward holes demand precision, especially with the strong mix of par threes and long par fives. First-time players may find green complexes tricky due to subtle breaks and soft contours.

The Good

Golfers especially love the tranquil, private feeling of Vuissens, framed by dense forest, streams, and a medieval castle. The variety of holes—five par threes and five par fives—along with pristine fairways and true-rolling greens, ensure memorable rounds. Players also praise the peaceful rural setting, away from crowds and noise.

The Not So Good

Some golfers have noted drainage can be a challenge after periods of heavy rain, impacting fairway conditions. A few wish for expanded practice facilities and more frequent tee time availability during peak days. The slightly remote location may also require a longer drive for some visitors.
