Course Report
Yas Links Abu Dhabi is the first authentic links course in the Middle East and was ranked as high as #48 in Golf Digest’s World Top 100 Courses.
About
Yas Links Abu Dhabi is the first true links-style golf course in the Middle East, designed by renowned architect Kyle Phillips. Set along the Arabian Gulf with dramatic coastline and views, this 18-hole championship course stretches 7,450 yards and regularly features among the world’s top 100 courses. It hosts the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on the DP World Tour and offers world-class practice and clubhouse facilities.
Caddie Tip
Greens break more than they appear, especially near the coastline holes. On the back nine, watch for swirling coastal winds that can change club selection by two clubs. The 17th and 18th often play into heavy breeze—commit to your tee shots and keep approaches below the hole to avoid tricky downhill putts.
The Main Challenge
The most challenging aspect for most players is mastering the demanding approach shots on exposed holes along the coast, especially under swirling winds. The stretch from holes 15–18 requires strategic accuracy, with deep bunkers, undulating greens, and water in play on the closing holes.
The Good
Golfers consistently praise the outstanding natural links design, rare for the region, and stunning oceanfront setting with eight holes along the Gulf. The course offers world-class playability and strategy, top-tier practice grounds, and an upscale clubhouse—elevating the experience for amateurs and pros alike.
The Not So Good
During peak events and weekends, pace of play can be slower than ideal. Some players have noted that summer conditioning is tough due to heat, affecting green speeds. Others wish for more shaded spots and improved directional signage given the course's open, expansive layout.
Signature Hole:
#
17
The par-3 17th at Yas Links Abu Dhabi is widely regarded as the course's signature hole, playing across water to a beautifully bunkered green perched on the edge of the Arabian Gulf. Demanding both precision and courage, it offers breathtaking ocean views, especially late in the day, making it unforgettable for golfers of all levels.
Clubhouse
The modern clubhouse offers panoramic Gulf views, multiple dining venues including the acclaimed Villa Sélène restaurant, locker rooms, spa, pro shop, bar, fitness center, and a swimming pool, providing players with a luxurious resort-like atmosphere.
Practice Facilities
World-class amenities include a floodlit driving range equipped with Toptracer technology, extensive short game areas, a 9-hole par 3 Academy course, practice bunkers, and professional instruction at the Yas Links Golf Academy.
