Brian Costello was elected President of the American Society of Golf Course Architects after more than 34 years in the profession and has designed golf courses that have hosted Asian and European Tour events.

Brian Costello is an acclaimed golf course architect and principal at JMP Golf Design Group. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Costello developed a passion for golf early, becoming a caddy and competitive player on classic courses that influenced his design style. He earned a B.S. in Landscape Architecture from UC Davis in 1983 and began his career at Hargreaves Associates, refining his appreciation for sculptural landscapes. In 1989, he joined JMP Golf Design, ascending to principal by 1994. Over three decades, Costello has crafted and renovated outstanding courses across the U.S. and internationally, including Callippe Preserve GC and Palo Alto Hills G&CC in California, Whiskey Creek GC in Maryland, Fazenda da Grama GC in Brazil, and Blackstone Golf & Resort in Korea. His work reflects a commitment to integrating classic layouts with modern functionality. In 2024, Costello was elected president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, highlighting his peer recognition and influence in contemporary golf architecture.
