Tom Mackenzie is a distinguished Scottish golf course architect known for his innovative yet classic approach to golf design. After earning a degree in Landscape Architecture following formative years caddying and greenkeeping in Dornoch, Mackenzie began his career under Donald Steel, rapidly establishing a reputation for his artistry and attention to detail. In 2005, he co-founded Mackenzie & Ebert, a partnership that has worked on celebrated venues including Royal Troon, Carnoustie, Trump Turnberry, and others, providing advice to seven of the ten current Open Championship venues. Driven by a passion for firm, fast, and natural courses, Mackenzie’s work is esteemed for its minimal earth movement and an appreciation of classic links characteristics. He has also led restoration projects ensuring the timelessness of the UK’s most cherished courses. His unique path, which included caddying on the European Tour, has left a lasting impression on his design philosophy, blending practical playing knowledge with an aesthetic respect for the land.
