Course Report

Bali Hai is the only championship golf course located directly on the Las Vegas Strip and is designed to resemble a South Pacific island retreat, with over 100,000 Balinese tropical plants.

About

Bali Hai Golf Club, designed by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley in 2000, is a par-71, 18-hole oasis located directly on the Las Vegas Strip. With striking views of iconic resorts, the course features lush tropical landscaping, white Augusta sand bunkers, volcanic rock accents, and water features, offering golfers a unique desert-meets-tropics experience. Renowned for its service and Vegas vibe.

Caddie Tip

Bali Hai’s lush but tight fairways can punish wayward shots—keep driver under control and club down when aiming for position over distance. Pay extra attention to the slick, subtly contoured greens which break more than they appear. Use yardage guides and play conservatively around the water hazards, especially on the par 3s. Caddie advice is well worth it here.

The Main Challenge

Bali Hai’s main challenge lies in its strategic water hazards, which come into play on several holes, and its fast, sloping greens. The finishing stretch, especially holes 15–18, demands accurate shot placement, and the white sand bunkers create visually intimidating approaches. Errant drives are often punished by dense Las Vegas landscaping.

The Good

Golfers love the unique opportunity to play a championship-caliber course right on the Las Vegas Strip, surrounded by luxurious tropical landscaping and vibrant energy. The service sets a high standard, making every round feel special. The striking scenery, challenging but fair layout, and the ability to see resort landmarks on every hole create an unforgettable Vegas golf experience.

The Not So Good

Some golfers mention that green fees can be high, especially during weekends, and the course can get crowded at peak times. Pace of play can sometimes stretch, and conditioning may fluctuate during extreme summer heat. More updates to restrooms and shaded waiting areas around the turn would improve the player experience.
