Course Report
Its extraordinary elevation causes golf balls to travel 15–20% farther than usual, and it holds the Guinness World Record for longest par-72 course.
About
Situated at an altitude of over 3,100 meters, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club is the world’s longest regulation golf course at 8,548 yards. Designed by Robin Nelson & Neil Haworth with input from China's No. 1 golfer, Zhang Lian-wei, the course combines parkland features with dramatic mountain vistas and exceptional length.
Caddie Tip
The high altitude offers extra distance, so play less club than usual, especially on approach shots. Strategic tee shot placement is crucial as the undulating terrain can leave challenging lies if you miss fairways. Make use of caddie knowledge about mountainous greens, which are deceptively quick and sloped.
The Main Challenge
The course’s exceptional length, undulating fairways, and mountain terrain make it daunting for any golfer. Shots must be carefully judged for both distance and altitude, and the ground contours can impose tough uneven lies and fast downhill approaches, especially on the final stretch. Weather can shift rapidly, adding to the challenge.
The Good
Golfers rave about the sweeping mountain backdrop and the unique conditions created by extreme altitude. The course’s sheer length and beautiful parkland routing offer a one-of-a-kind experience with breathtaking snow-capped views and dramatic changes in elevation.
The Not So Good
Some visitors mention inconsistencies in turf quality and occasional slow greens, most pronounced early or late season. Pace of play can suffer due to the challenging layout and required carts. Some golfers wish for more signage and English-speaking support for international visitors.
