Course Report
The course was created after the original Minot Country Club was destroyed by catastrophic flooding from the Souris River in 2011, leading to a complete redesign and relocation to higher, safer ground.
About
Beowulf Golf Club in Minot, designed after the original Minot Country Club was destroyed by flooding, sits atop higher ground with seven sets of tees offering varied play from 4,485 to 6,870 yards. Opened in 2015, the course features modern design, expansive fairways, and a new clubhouse, making it a leading public golf destination in central North Dakota.
Caddie Tip
Many fairways are wide but position is key—avoid the right side on several holes where native grasses and bunkers come into play. The course can play long in the wind, so use extra club on uphill or exposed approaches, and take advantage of the multiple tee options for a better fit to your skill.
The Main Challenge
The toughest challenge at Beowulf comes from its elevation changes and frequent winds. Strategic bunkering and thick native grasses penalize wayward shots, especially on doglegs and the longer par 4s. Golfers must balance aggressive play with course management to avoid late-round mistakes.
The Good
Golfers consistently praise Beowulf’s modern layout, variety of tee options, and the pristine condition of fairways and greens. The new clubhouse and scenic vistas of the Souris River valley give players memorable views and a comfortable setting before and after their round.
The Not So Good
Some visitors have suggested more shade around tee boxes and quicker beverage service during busy times. Pace of play can slow on weekends due to the course’s popularity, and a few golfers would welcome greater variety in hole designs on the back nine.
