Course Report

Chileno Bay’s course is known for its extraordinary comfort stations by the 4th and 12th holes, where gourmet food and drinks are offered as part of the round—reflecting a tradition found at only a handful of luxury clubs worldwide.

About

Chileno Bay Golf and Beach Club is a Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole resort course in Los Cabos set on Baja’s dramatic coast, offering spectacular Sea of Cortez vistas and desert-mountain terrain. The exclusively private experience is available to members and resort guests, with wide fairways, rugged bunkering, no rough, and state-of-the-art facilities making it playable yet challenging for all abilities.

Caddie Tip

Desert winds can be deceiving; play extra club toward the water, especially on the downwind holes. Keep everything below the hole on the fast, subtly breaking greens. With lots of runoffs and no rough, err on the side of safety off the tee—a miss right or left often means a lost ball.

The Main Challenge

The toughest aspect of Chileno Bay is the strategic play required amid wide yet exposed fairways bordered by desert. Severe bunkering and quick, sloping Paspalum greens demand precise approach shots and short game finesse. Elevated tees, wind, and dramatic elevation changes test golfers throughout.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise the spectacular ocean and mountain views from nearly every hole, and the pristine, lush conditioning of fairways and greens. The comfort stations with gourmet snacks and drinks are a unique highlight, elevating the overall luxury experience to a level few other clubs can match in Mexico.

The Not So Good

Some players note the rugged bunkering and lack of rough mean lost balls for offline shots are common, which can slow pace of play. Others desire even greater flexibility for tee times and more access for non-resort guests, given the course’s restricted play policy.
