Course Report
Clear Creek Tahoe is the only course in Nevada designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, two of the most celebrated architects in modern golf.
About
Clear Creek Tahoe is a premier private mountain golf course in Carson City, Nevada, designed by the acclaimed team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. Routinely ranked as Nevada’s #1 private course, it offers dramatic vistas, a demanding yet fair layout, and exceptional practice facilities, all nestled in a scenic alpine setting 20 minutes from both Lake Tahoe and ski resorts.
Caddie Tip
Concentrate on strategic placement, especially off the tee, as several holes require accuracy over pure distance. Elevation changes and the mountain air can extend ball flights, so recalibrate your yardages. Play for the fat side of greens and beware of tricky, quick putts due to well-contoured, fast surfaces. Take advantage of the spacious practice facility before your round.
The Main Challenge
The rugged mountain setting delivers dramatic elevation changes, tight landing areas, and strategic bunkering that will keep even seasoned players on their toes. Fast, undulating greens demand precision with approach shots and a deft touch with the putter. The layout rewards careful planning and penalizes over-aggression, but always feels fair.
The Good
Most golfers rave about the course's natural beauty and the exceptional design by Coore & Crenshaw, noting its seamless integration with the mountain landscape. The variety of holes and strategic decision-making offer endless interest and replay value. The unmatched serenity of the alpine setting provides an escape from crowded valley courses, making every round feel special.
The Not So Good
Some members mention that summer afternoons can be windy, making play more challenging for higher handicappers. A few wish that there were more tournaments for non-resident members and increased guest access. As a newer course, some landscaping around non-core areas continues to grow in and mature.
