Course Report

About

Cochiti Golf Club is a scenic 18-hole public course designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., situated between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Known for its tranquil atmosphere, beautiful views, and blend of challenge and playability, it features Bentgrass fairways, a diverse mix of holes, and is a consistent favorite among New Mexico golfers.

Caddie Tip

Play conservatively off the tee, as the natural rough can be punishing. Club selection is important due to elevation changes and wind, so trust your yardages. Bring a rangefinder since yardage markers may be sparse, and utilize the excellent greens for up-and-down opportunities rather than always firing at pins.

The Main Challenge

The biggest challenge is managing shots into tight fairways bordered by thick brush, especially when wind picks up. Elevation changes and subtly contoured Bentgrass greens test both decision making and short game skills. Accurate approaches are a must, as the rough and natural vegetation quickly penalize stray shots.

The Good

Golfers love the tranquility, the stunning mountain views, and the variety in both hole design and shot value. The course delivers excellent value with friendly staff and uncrowded fairways, creating a peaceful yet engaging round that many find to be the best public golf experience in New Mexico.

The Not So Good

Some players cite the lack of included range balls with greens fees and challenges with finding sprinkler head yardages as negatives. The bar and grill, while functional, does not stand out, and cell service can be limited, making GPS apps unreliable. More resort-style amenities could elevate the experience.

Signature Hole:

#

18

No items found.

The 18th hole at Cochiti Golf Club is a classic finishing par 4, demanding an accurate tee shot to a fairway lined by native vegetation before an approach to a well-guarded green with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding landscape. The hole's strategic design makes it a memorable conclusion to the round. Could not find info.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The clubhouse is simple yet welcoming, featuring a check-in desk, bar and grill for snacks and drinks, and a pro shop with golf essentials. While comfortable, don't expect upscale or lavish amenities; the focus is on a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and excellent value.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Cochiti offers a driving range (range balls extra), chipping and putting greens. The facilities are basic but efficient for warming up. No short-game complex or covered bays. The course's remote tranquility is its selling point rather than extensive practice infrastructure.
