Course Report

The Dunes Course was the very first signature golf course built in Greece and helped establish the country as a rising golf destination.

About

The Dunes Course at Costa Navarino, designed by Bernhard Langer in association with European Golf Design, is Greece’s first signature golf course. Opened in 2010, this par-71 track features generous fairways, testing bunkering, undulating greens, and stunning views of sea, mountains, and rivers, set across a beautiful undulating landscape within a luxury resort.

Caddie Tip

Wind can be a decisive factor, especially on the seaside holes. Play one more club than you think into the wind, and favor accuracy as the bunkering around the greens is deep and penal. The front nine, especially holes 5-7, offer a chance to score if you keep the ball in play.

The Main Challenge

While the generous fairways suggest playability, the deep and well-placed bunkers, undulating greens, and ever-present sea breezes add real challenge. The most difficult stretch is mid-round, when crosswinds pick up and second shots to raised greens punish any lack of precision.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise the variety of holes, high standard of conditioning, and views over the Ionian Sea and Messinian countryside. The front nine offers great elevation changes and scenery, while service and off-course resort amenities are among the best in Europe, making it a memorable resort golf experience.

The Not So Good

Walkability is often cited as the biggest drawback; the layout spans a large property with significant distances between holes, making a buggy almost essential even outside of the hot summer months. Some golfers also mention that the greens can be inconsistent in speed at busy times.
