Course Report

Dallas National occupies a former cement company property and leverages one of the most dramatic escarpments in Dallas, offering 180 feet of elevation change rare in the region.

About

Dallas National Golf Club is a Tom Fazio-designed private course carved from Dallas’ unique escarpment land. Opened in 2002, it’s renowned for its dramatic elevation changes, impeccable conditioning, and exclusivity. The expansive layout features Crenshaw L-93 Bentgrass greens and is often recognized among the very best in Texas and beyond.

Caddie Tip

Trust the caddie’s advice reading subtle green breaks—most putts move more than they appear. On downhill holes, club down to avoid overshooting into sage or rocky trouble. Keep drives centered, especially on the back nine where angled fairways and native grass penalize wayward shots.

The Main Challenge

The toughest challenge lies in the relentless variety of elevation, shaping holes where club selection is critical, and wind often swirls unpredictably. Both tee shots and approaches demand commitment—the course penalizes short-sided misses and amplifies mistakes, especially on the escarpment’s exposed holes.

The Good

Golfers love the setting—completely secluded and free of real estate, Dallas National provides a rare feeling of unspoiled nature close to a major city. The elevation changes and high-quality design create unforgettable golf, while impeccable conditions and attentive service deliver a pure private club experience.

The Not So Good

Access is highly exclusive and there are few public events or opportunities for non-members to play. Some visitors note that the challenge verges on punishing with little forgiveness for golfers with higher handicaps, and the course can be difficult to walk given the hills.

Signature Hole:

#

8

No items found.

The 8th hole is a stunning par 3 framed by natural hills and deep bunkering, with a dramatic drop from tee to green. Demanding both precision and nerve, the shot plays over a ravine to a well-protected green, with swirling winds and elevation changes making club selection challenging. It's a true showcase of Fazio’s artistry and the site’s natural terrain.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The elegant clubhouse features casual and fine dining, well-appointed locker rooms, lounge spaces, and a full bar. Members enjoy private meeting rooms, attentive service, and luxury finishing touches. Social spaces host member events throughout the year.

Practice Facilities

No items found.
