Course Report

The BSD Course was Jack Nicklaus’s first design in Indonesia and has hosted multiple Asian Tour Indonesia Opens, becoming a benchmark for championship golf in the region.

About

Damai Indah Golf - BSD Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1992, is one of Indonesia’s top parkland-style layouts. Set along the Cisadane River southwest of Jakarta, it features wide fairways, strategic bunkering, and integrated natural wetlands. The club is known for tournament-quality conditioning, sweeping waterfront views, and world-class facilities, attracting players across Asia.

Caddie Tip

Play conservatively off the tee, as the fairways tempt with width but guard themselves with water and bunkering near landing zones. Local knowledge is key—rely on your caddie for the right lines around the river holes and for tricky putts on undulating greens. Most greens break toward the water, so read carefully.

The Main Challenge

BSD Course challenges with sweeping water hazards, especially on holes 4, 9, and 18. Accurate shot-making and smart strategy are required to navigate well-positioned bunkers, water, and undulating greens. The closing stretch, especially the 18th, puts nerves and tactics to a final test.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise the course for the mix of challenge and beauty, especially the strategic layout by Jack Nicklaus. The tranquility of the riverside scenery, mature landscaping, and views from the elegant clubhouse terrace amplify the experience, making every round memorable, especially during tournament events.

The Not So Good

Feedback often cites slower pace of play during busy weekends and some drainage issues in the rainy season. Occasional complaints arise about crowded conditions, particularly when hosted events overlap with regular play. Some visitors wish for upgraded locker rooms and expanded dining options.

The water guards the green, demanding precision and nerve to secure a strong finish under tournament pressure.
