Course Report

Four Streams was the first golf course design project for major champion Nick Price, and the course is used as the home for Georgetown University’s golf teams.

About

Four Streams is a private 18-hole golf club in Beallsville, Maryland, designed by Nick Price and Steve Smyers in 1998. Set on 300 acres in Montgomery County's Agricultural Reserve, the course weaves through forested hills and streams, offering strategic design, natural beauty, and superb conditions. It is recognized in the top 10 courses in Maryland and hosts Georgetown University’s golf teams.

Caddie Tip

Keep drives in play by respecting the bunkers and natural contours, as trouble lurks on both sides of many fairways. Pay close attention to pin positions—greens can be tricky with subtle breaks, especially when fast. Strategic approaches and conservative play on uphill and downhill holes are rewarded.

The Main Challenge

Four Streams' greatest test is managing the shifting elevation and natural hazards—streams, mature woodlands, and strategic bunkering come into play on many holes. The course places a premium on accuracy off the tee and precise iron play, especially with fast, contoured greens.

The Good

Golfers rave about the harmonious blend of challenge and tranquility—the layout seamlessly integrates rolling hills, mature trees, and natural streams, providing a strategic and peaceful golf experience. Members enjoy uncrowded play and a thoughtful design that rewards decision-making and accuracy.

The Not So Good

A small number of golfers have noted that play can become very difficult when the greens are at peak speed. Others have wished for more yardage options to suit a wider range of handicaps. Tee box conditioning during peak rain months is occasionally cited as a concern.

Signature Hole:

#

9

No items found.

The 9th, a par 4, is widely regarded as Four Streams’ signature hole. It features a downhill tee shot that must find a narrow fairway framed by mature trees, with a demanding approach to a green defended by bunkers and subtle slopes. The picturesque setting and panoramic views from the tee make it memorable.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The clubhouse offers fine and casual dining, a grill room, upscale locker rooms, event spaces for members, and a pro shop. The outdoor patio provides sweeping course views, and members enjoy attentive staff, private parties, and corporate event hosting.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

The club’s practice area features a full driving range, dedicated short game area, and expansive putting green. Facilities are quiet, uncrowded, and maintained to the club’s high standards, allowing players to prepare for every aspect of their round.
