Course Report

The Earth Course was inspired by the classic parkland courses of Europe and America, and its bunkering was modeled in part on Augusta National, with visually intimidating white sand and green complexes unlike any other course in the region.

About

The Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, is a championship layout by Greg Norman, renowned for its tournament pedigree as the annual host of the DP World Tour Championship. With undulating parkland-style fairways, dramatic bunkering, and greens with bold contours, it offers a strategically demanding, visually stunning, and meticulously conditioned golf experience in a lush, upmarket residential setting.

Caddie Tip

Conservative play is rewarded on many approach shots, especially on finishing holes where water guards the greens. Pay extreme attention to pin positions—many greens feature finger-like sections that create optical illusions and extremely tough locations. Avoid taking on unnecessary risks on the back nine unless needed for your score.

The Main Challenge

The Earth Course's primary challenge lies in its dramatic green complexes with bold contours and narrow landing zones, especially on approach shots. Numerous holes feature water hazards and deep bunkers, demanding precise shotmaking under pressure. The final three holes in particular test both skill and nerve for all levels of players.

The Good

Golfers love the tournament-level conditioning and dramatic finishing stretch, particularly the back nine's risk-reward holes set against an urban skyline. The layout is both challenging and playable, offering a rare chance to walk in the footsteps of Europe's Tour stars with world-class facilities and service throughout the experience.

The Not So Good

The course receives occasional critique for its visual intimidation and challenge, which can overwhelm higher-handicap players. Some find the length excessive from the back tees, and summer conditioning can suffer in extreme heat. A few off-course amenities may feel secondary in priority to the golf experience.
