Course Report

The course hosted the European Ladies Amateur Championship and saw Jesper Parnevik win the Swedish National Championships here in 1997.

About

Kristianstad Golf Club (Åhus East Course) is one of Sweden’s oldest and most respected parkland courses, set amid rolling countryside near the Baltic Sea. Designed originally by Rafael Sundblom and Douglas Braiser, with updates by Tommy Nordström, the course is known for well-maintained greens, tournament pedigree, and a layout that challenges all levels of play.

Caddie Tip

Club selection is key due to swirling coastal winds and subtle elevation changes. Favor conservative lines off the tee, as many holes are protected by mature trees and well-placed bunkers. Study green slopes carefully, as contours add complexity to approach shots and putting.

The Main Challenge

The real challenge comes from tight driving corridors, water hazards, and strategic bunkering. The layout rewards precision on approach shots and careful management of the subtle, fast greens. When the coastal winds pick up, club selection and shot trajectory become critical to scoring well.

The Good

Golfers love the classic parkland routing, lush fairways bordered by tall trees, and the balance of holes that reward both shot-making and strategy. The tranquil countryside setting provides a memorable golfing escape, and tournament-level conditions are maintained to a consistently high standard throughout the season.

The Not So Good

Several guests note that wet weather can make certain areas of the course soft underfoot, impacting roll and walking comfort. Some players wish for more diverse food and beverage options at the clubhouse, especially during off-peak times. Pace of play can occasionally slow on weekends during peak summer season.
