Course Report

The course was the first in Vietnam to be EarthCheck Silver Certified for sustainability, and its holes play through active rice paddies, where local farmers harvest crops alongside the fairways.

About

Laguna Lăng Cô Golf Club, designed by Sir Nick Faldo, is an acclaimed 18-hole, par 71 links-style course set between Central Vietnam’s mountains and coast. The layout features dramatic coastal holes, rice paddies, and jungle sections, providing exceptional variety and strategic interest. Its integration with a luxury resort ensures a memorable golf and travel experience for players of all levels.

Caddie Tip

Trust your caddie’s advice on green reads and lines—local knowledge is key, especially with chipping and putting on the undulating greens. Pay attention to the wind, which can be tricky and shift quickly, particularly on the coastal and open holes. Positioning your approach shots below the hole gives the best birdie chances.

The Main Challenge

The most demanding elements are the shifting coastal winds and varied lies through multiple terrain changes. The course tests approach accuracy on narrow greens with run-off areas, and penalizes errant drives with native areas and water hazards on several key holes, demanding thoughtful club selection and shot planning.

The Good

Golfers rave about the incredible diversity of the layout, moving from dramatic coast to jungle to rice paddies within a single round. The unique natural features—massive rock outcrops, water, and mountain vistas—offer a memorable and photogenic experience. The hospitality and service at the integrated Banyan Tree resort complex further enhance every visit.

The Not So Good

Some players wish for even faster green speeds and more consistent conditioning at peak season. Others note that pace of play can drag on busier weekends, particularly during large resort events, and that the remote location requires advance planning for transport from the airport.
