Course Report

Ora Country Club is among the largest golf resorts in Korea, with 36 holes spread over more than 2 million square meters. The facility is also well-regarded for its panoramic views of Mt. Hallasan, a shield volcano and the highest peak in South Korea.

About

Ora Country Club is a renowned 36-hole public golf course on Jeju Island, founded in 1979 and beautifully routed along valleys beside Hallasan Mountain. Designed to international standards, it delivers a rewarding test amidst scenic volcanic terrain. The layout is known for well-maintained fairways and greens and delivers an enjoyable round for all skill levels.

Caddie Tip

The valleys and gentle slopes near Mt. Hallasan result in breaks and wind conditions that can be tricky to judge. Aim to play a conservative approach on blind landing areas, and pay close attention to yardages—greens are quicker than they look and putts often break subtly toward the mountain.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge is adapting to Jeju’s unpredictable winds and variable weather conditions, which can change rapidly throughout a round. Long par 4s with elevated greens require precise approach shots, while guarded greens and narrow fairway angles demand accuracy.

The Good

Golfers love the spectacular scenery framed by Jeju's lush volcanic landscape and views of Hallasan Mountain throughout the course. The fairways are meticulously maintained and the parkland routing delivers an enjoyable challenge for both casual and experienced players.

The Not So Good

Golfers sometimes mention that the popularity of the course leads to slow play during peak hours, especially on weekends. Afternoon rounds can be affected by sudden weather changes on Jeju Island, and some complain about the cost compared to local alternatives.
