Course Report

From 1997 to 2002, Park Meadows Country Club hosted the PGA Champions Tour's Utah Showdown, drawing golf legends such as Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and Lee Trevino.

About

Park Meadows Country Club is Park City's only member-owned private course, designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1983. Its walkable layout winds through the scenic mountain setting, enhanced by a 2011 renovation. Known for fast, undulating bentgrass greens and strategic bunkering, it offers a challenging yet enjoyable test for all levels of golfers.

Caddie Tip

Approach shots must be dialed in, as missing greens can lead to challenging recovery shots from deep bunkers or tricky rough. Pay attention to green speeds—they are often some of the fastest in Utah. Course management and careful reading of slopes will help avoid three-putts and high scores.

The Main Challenge

The most challenging aspects are the quick, sloping greens and well-placed bunkers—over 100 throughout the course—test shot-making and short game skills. Water hazards come into play on a majority of holes, demanding accurate drives and forced carries, especially on par 5s and closing stretch.

The Good

Members praise the perfectly maintained fairways and challenging, lightning-fast greens. The panoramic mountain scenery creates a memorable backdrop on every hole, and the variety in the layout—doglegs, water hazards, and elevation changes—makes every round engaging. Its status as the only private club in Park City ensures a quiet, exclusive experience.

The Not So Good

Some members note that green speeds can at times be too severe, especially during tournament preparations, making putting intimidating for higher handicappers. A few find that roughs and bunkers, although well-kept, can be overly penal, slowing play and adding to difficulty on less-than-perfect shots.
