Course Report

Quail Hollow has hosted multiple PGA TOUR events, including the Wells Fargo Championship, the 2017 PGA Championship, and will host the PGA again in 2025.

About

Quail Hollow Club, designed originally by George Cobb and updated by Tom Fazio, is a prestigious private club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Featuring undulating fairways, challenging bunkering, and subtle greens, it is renowned for hosting major tournaments like the PGA Championship and Presidents Cup. The course presents a Parkland layout with a reputation for both impeccable conditioning and exclusive club amenities.

Caddie Tip

Prioritize accuracy off the tee to avoid Quail Hollow's doglegged, tree-lined fairways and be mindful of the massive, MacKenzie-style bunkers. The Bermuda greens are subtly contoured and quick—accepting conservative lag putting on long approach attempts. Plan for a demanding finish as the closing stretch is among the PGA Tour's toughest.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge at Quail Hollow is navigating the doglegged, tree-lined fairways while avoiding enormous MacKenzie-style bunkers and water hazards. The finishing holes—especially the par 4 16th, par 3 17th, and daunting par 4 18th—collectively known as the 'Green Mile,' demand both precision and mental composure under pressure.

The Good

Golfers rave about the immaculate course conditions, tour-level scenery, and the storied history of professional championships hosted here. The closing holes, known as the 'Green Mile,' provide a dramatic and unforgettable test during high-profile tournaments, making each visit feel momentous.

The Not So Good

Some guests and members would prefer expanded access and greater flexibility for playing times, as club exclusivity makes casual or short-notice play very difficult. The challenging setup can also be too penal for higher-handicap golfers, especially during tournament conditions.

Signature Hole:

#

17

No items found.

The 17th hole at Quail Hollow Club is a par 3 that plays entirely over water to a shallow, well-protected green. The intimidating angle and swirling winds make club selection tough, and the hole has been the scene of pivotal tournament moments. Contending with a deep bunker and water short, accuracy and nerve are rewarded here.

Clubhouse

No items found.

Quail Hollow's clubhouse is a plantation-style structure featuring luxury locker rooms, fine dining, tennis courts, and a swimming pool. Members enjoy exclusive lounges, well-appointed meeting spaces, and concierge service, with a halfway house and Champions Park enhancing the club's ambiance.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

The practice area includes a full-length, open-bay driving range, an expansive putting green, and a short-game area for chipping and pitching.
