Round Hill Club is a prestigious, private 18-hole parkland course in Greenwich, Connecticut, designed by Walter Travis and opened in 1924. Known for its elegant setting, tree-lined fairways, and classic golden-age architecture, the course offers a challenging yet fair layout that appeals to experienced players and club members alike. Membership is by invitation only.
Caddie Tip
Conservative play off the tee will keep you out of Round Hill’s dense trees; focus on positioning over length. The greens are quick and subtly contoured, rewarding smart approach shots and careful pace control. Take extra care reading putts, as bentgrass surfaces here run true but fast, especially on downhill putts.
The Main Challenge
The biggest challenge is precision off the tee—tree-lined fairways and subtle elevation changes put a premium on placing your drives. Approach shots must be accurate, as the bentgrass greens are fast, firm, and well-guarded. Recovery from rough or beneath the canopy is difficult, and the final holes require thoughtful club selection and patience.
