Course Report

The course was formerly known as Mentari Golf Bukit Sentul before being redesigned and rebranded by Gary Player.

About

Set on hilly terrain in Bogor's Sentul City, Gary Player designed Sentul Highlands Golf Club offers beautiful mountain views, Bermuda grass fairways and greens, and modern facilities including a driving range, spa, and quality clubhouse. The well-regarded course challenges all abilities and is known for friendly caddies and lush scenery.

Caddie Tip

Greens break more than they appear, particularly on holes playing towards the mountains. Trust the local caddies’ reads, especially on approach shots to undulating greens. On windy days, play for extra roll on the firm Bermuda fairways. The front nine plays easier—reserve energy for the tougher back nine finish.

The Main Challenge

Sentul Highlands’ main challenge is its hilly terrain, which means many uneven lies and elevated greens. Back nine holes require precision due to tighter landing areas and slopes. Strong winds from the mountain can further complicate approach shots, and the quick Bermuda greens can be demanding, especially after rain.

The Good

Golfers love the dramatic mountain scenery with panoramic views of Gunung Salak, the lush fairways, and the tranquil atmosphere away from Jakarta’s congestion. Many especially appreciate the Gary Player design that uses the hilly terrain for strategic shotmaking, and the course’s friendly, knowledgeable caddies are highly praised.

The Not So Good

During busy periods, pace of play can be slow, particularly on weekends or in large groups. Some golfers note the need for further greens renovation and improved bunkering, since heavy seasonal rainfall can affect course conditioning. Traffic getting to and from Jakarta also occasionally affects overall experience.
