Course Report

The course moved over five million cubic meters of earth during construction, using dramatic cut-and-fill to sculpt its unique terrain without moving dirt offsite.

About

Silk Path Dong Trieu Golf & Country Club is a world-class 27-hole course in Dong Trieu, Vietnam, designed by Sir Nick Faldo. The championship layout features striking elevation changes, strategic bunkering, and sweeping vistas in the Quang Ninh landscape. Opened in 2025, the course combines Faldo’s architectural vision with local terrain and eco-friendly principles.

Caddie Tip

Wind conditions frequently shift across the undulating terrain, especially on high elevation holes. Club selection and ball flight adjustment are paramount; it's wise to consult the caddie for green reading as the slopes and subtle breaks challenge even experienced players.

The Main Challenge

The ever-present wind and the combination of long Par 4s, elevation changes, and well-protected greens present the stiffest challenge. Strategic bunkering throughout demands precise shot planning, while mountain terrain increases the physical demands and complexity for every golfer.

The Good

Golfers love the sweeping mountain vistas, especially at sunrise and sunset when the course’s natural elevation shifts catch the light beautifully. The Faldo-designed layout challenges players with a blend of risk-reward holes and scenic tranquility, making every round engaging for all skill levels.

The Not So Good

Some players wish for more consistent green speeds and improved signage on tricky dogleg holes. In early seasons, the turf near heavily contoured areas can show immature growth and occasionally soft conditions after rain.
