Course Report

Son Gual was built on the dream of its founder, Adam Pamer, who moved 1.4 million cubic meters of earth to transform farmland into one of Spain's most celebrated layouts.

About

Son Gual Golf is a leading 18-hole parkland course on Mallorca, designed by renowned German architect Thomas Himmel. Opened in 2007, the course features undulating fairways, numerous bunkers, abundant water hazards, and meticulously maintained Bentgrass greens, combining Mediterranean beauty with a challenging layout. The elegant clubhouse and exceptional practice facilities offer a five-star experience for golfers.

Caddie Tip

Conserve your energy for the demanding finish—plays strategically off the tee on the closing holes, especially on the 18th, where aggressive play can pay off but hazards are in play. Read greens carefully, as the subtle undulations can fool even experienced putters.

The Main Challenge

Son Gual’s challenge lies in its strategic bunkering, abundant water hazards, and undulating greens. Narrow landing areas demand accuracy off the tee, while swirling Mediterranean winds can alter club selection. The closing holes, especially 17 and 18, put shot-making and nerves to the test.

The Good

Golfers praise the course’s pristine greens, challenging design, and the beautiful views across olive groves and wildflowers. The elegant clubhouse and the panoramic terrace add to the luxurious atmosphere, making it a favorite for visitors seeking a memorable round with top-tier facilities and Mediterranean hospitality.

The Not So Good

Some visitors note high green fees and occasional slow pace of play during busy periods. The openness of the site can expose players to wind, and beginners may find the many bunkers and water hazards daunting. Enhanced signage and more shaded seating could improve the overall experience.

The approach to the kidney-shaped green offers a dramatic risk-reward moment that can decide a match, rewarding accuracy and strategic shot selection.
