Course Report

Redlands Mesa has won numerous national accolades, including 'Best New Affordable Public Course in America' by Golf Digest in 2001 and is often ranked as the top public course in Colorado.

About

The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa, designed by Jim Engh and opened in 2001, is regarded as one of Colorado’s premier public courses. Set beneath dramatic sandstone cliffs and surrounded by stunning natural scenery, the course features 18 holes, 11 elevated tees, and 37 bunkers, offering a challenging yet fun layout for all skill levels.

Caddie Tip

Play conservatively off the tee until you know the carries and sightlines, as several holes feature dramatic elevation changes and blind shots. When in doubt, trust the yardage book and play for the centers of greens to avoid tricky runoffs and hidden hazards.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge at Redlands Mesa is managing the elevation changes and tricky sightlines, particularly on holes with blind shots or split fairways. Strategic play is required around the massive rock formations and numerous bunkers, making course management crucial for scoring well.

The Good

Golfers praise the breathtaking vistas and dramatic setting, with jaw-dropping views of sandstone cliffs and Colorado National Monument. The creative routing, memorable elevation changes, and strong variety of holes make every round unique and enjoyable for first-timers and regulars alike.

The Not So Good

Some players comment on tough walks between holes and challenging blind shots that can frustrate first-time visitors. Pace of play can be slow during peak times, and the terrain makes it less walkable. Conditions can vary, especially during hot, dry stretches.

Signature Hole:

#

14

No items found.

The par-4 14th hole at Redlands Mesa is a dramatic dogleg right with more than a 90-degree turn, framed by imposing red rock mounds. A bold drive can cut the corner between or over the rocks, setting up a much shorter approach, while shorter hitters are left with a partially blind shot over the right mound.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The clubhouse features a full-service restaurant with indoor and deck seating, a well-stocked pro shop, locker facilities, and event spaces. Dining is open to the public, and there are options for both casual and group events.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Redlands Mesa offers a full practice range, large putting green, and short game area. Professional instruction is available from PGA staff, and both private and group lessons can be booked. The pro shop provides club rentals and golf essentials.
