Course Report

The Ridge Golf Club was named Iowa Golf Course of the Year in 2012 and hosted the 2019 Iowa State Amateur Championship.

About

The Ridge Golf Club, designed to provide enjoyment for all ability levels, is an award-winning public course stretching over 7,200 yards in Sioux Center, Iowa. Since opening in 2009, The Ridge has gained recognition for its immaculate maintenance, variety of holes, and exceptional facilities. The course has hosted major state championships and is known for its welcoming atmosphere.

Caddie Tip

Accuracy off the tee is key as the fairways are generous but well-bunkered. Play for position rather than power—several holes penalize overly aggressive approaches. Greens have subtle but significant undulation: leaving yourself below the hole greatly improves your chance of saving par, especially on faster stimp days.

The Main Challenge

The course features strategic bunkering and water hazards that force smart shot selection throughout. Fluctuating winds on the open holes can mean club selection is critical. The length from the back tees stretches better players, while the undulating green complexes challenge approach accuracy for all abilities.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise the outstanding condition of the greens and fairways, as well as the balanced challenge that suits both high- and low-handicap players. The friendly local community and attentive staff add to the enjoyable experience, with a welcoming club atmosphere and impressive clubhouse facilities.

The Not So Good

Some players mention that pace of play can slow down during weekend afternoons, particularly when hosting larger outings. Wind can be challenging in the open countryside, and a bit more shade on summer days would improve comfort between shots.
