Course Report

The first green at TPC Las Colinas is uniquely shaped like the state of Texas and features a sand trap in the shape of Oklahoma.

About

TPC Las Colinas, located at the Ritz-Carlton Dallas in Irving, Texas, is a championship resort course designed by Jay Morrish and Byron Nelson. Known for its pristine conditioning, undulating fairways, and Bentgrass greens surrounded by Bermuda, it once hosted the PGA Tour's Byron Nelson Tournament and features notable water hazards and lush landscaping throughout its 7,166-yard layout.

Caddie Tip

Precision into the greens is crucial as many complexes are guarded by water or bunkers, especially on the back nine. On 17 and 18, stay focused on shot placement, as water hazards and swirling wind play a big role in scoring. Play conservatively around the water and miss on the safer side of every approach.

The Main Challenge

TPC Las Colinas’s greatest challenge lies in its closing holes. Water hazards and tight landing areas on 17 and 18 demand confident driving and precise approaches. Fluctuating Texas winds add difficulty, especially for approach shots to exposed greens, heightening the test for players of all skill levels.

The Good

Golfers love the championship pedigree and conditioning, highlighting immaculate fairways, smooth Bentgrass greens, and dramatic water features on multiple holes. The course’s staging for professional tournaments adds a sense of occasion, and its memorable finishing stretch offers both challenge and visual spectacle.

The Not So Good

Some guests note pace of play can be slow during busy periods and that green fees are high compared to other Dallas-area courses. The layout’s resort requirements may restrict tee time availability for non-resort guests, which can be frustrating for local players.

Signature Hole:

#

18

No items found.

The 18th hole is a 429-yard par 4 finishing dogleg left around a pond with a series of waterfalls. A strong drive left of the fairway bunker sets up an uphill approach, but water left and a bunker right demand precision. Its setting and drama make it one of the Dallas area's most memorable closing holes.

Clubhouse

No items found.

Clubhouse amenities feature luxury dining, lounges, locker rooms, full pro shop, spa, and access to the Ritz-Carlton pool and fitness center, providing a complete resort environment for golfers before and after their round.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Comprehensive practice amenities include a large grass driving range, chipping and putting greens, short game area, and on-site PGA instruction. Newly updated locker rooms, club storage, and full-service bag drop from the Ritz-Carlton add to the resort experience.
