Course Report

Ullna hosted the Scandinavian Enterprise Open on the European Tour from 1983-1987 and was the site of Annika Sörenstam’s homecoming win at the HP Open in 2004.

About

Ullna Golf & Country Club, situated on the shore of Lake Ullna north of Stockholm, is a renowned parkland course. Originally designed by Sven Tumba in 1981 and extensively remodeled by Jack Nicklaus in 2012, the course is known for its challenging water hazards, lush conditions, and scenic setting. It has hosted European Tour events, adding to its prestige.

Caddie Tip

Stay focused on club selection around water, especially from holes 15 to 18 where the lake dramatically tightens landing areas. Choose conservative lines and lay up when in doubt. Pay special attention to swirling winds near the lake that can deceptively push your ball off line on approach.

The Main Challenge

Water hazards heavily influence play, particularly on the inward nine, demanding accurate tee shots and precise approaches. The finish, with multiple holes bordering the lake and the island-green par 3 17th, is both scenic and punishing, especially in breezy conditions.

The Good

Golfers rave about the lakeside scenery, especially the holes that hug the edge of Lake Ullna, along with the elevated challenge brought by water features present on most holes. The mix of Jack Nicklaus strategy and the tranquil Swedish setting make every round spectacular for both locals and international visitors.

The Not So Good

Some players wish for more flexible green fee options, as peak times can be expensive compared to other local clubs. The strict handicap limit and tee time availability for non-members can be restrictive, limiting public access to one of Sweden’s most storied layouts.

Signature Hole:

#

17

No items found.

The 17th is a striking par 3 played entirely over water to an island green, framed by lakeside views. Precision is essential, as wind can be a factor. The hole’s breathtaking scenery and risk-reward design make it one of the most memorable on the course and a true test late in any round.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The clubhouse offers locker rooms, pro shop, high-end restaurant with views of Lake Ullna, and meeting spaces. It is modern, clean, and provides a comfortable environment for both members and guests, suitable for private functions and corporate events.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Practice amenities include a full driving range, large putting green, short game area, and practice bunkers. Well-maintained and open to guests, these facilities offer a chance to sharpen all aspects of your game before heading to the first tee.
