Course Report

The Oaks and Azaleas courses cover over 700 acres and are consistently ranked among the top courses in Mississippi. The complex is owned by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and is part of the Pearl River Resort, which also includes casinos and a waterpark.

About

The Oaks at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club is a par-72 resort course designed by Tom Fazio and PGA legend Jerry Pate. Nestled in the rolling hills of east-central Mississippi, it features over 7,000 yards of tree-lined fairways, streams, Zoysia fairways and Champion ultradwarf Bermuda greens. Renowned for Southern hospitality, impeccable design, and serene woodland setting.

Caddie Tip

Play smart off the tee—accuracy trumps distance due to the mature pines and oaks lining many holes. The greens are true but can be fast, especially in dry weather. Pay attention to approach shot placement, as greenside bunkers and creek crossings are in play on several holes. Manage the course and avoid risky hero shots.

The Main Challenge

Strategic shot placement is key—narrow landing areas are guarded by tall pines and hardwoods, and streams cross several fairways, forcing calculated risk-taking. Approaches to elevated greens require precision. Changeable winds and quick, undulating greens amplify the challenge.

The Good

Golfers rave about the flawless course conditions, tranquil woodland scenery, and the challenging yet fair layout crafted by Fazio and Pate. Many highlight the Southern hospitality and customer service as top-tier, and note the course is both visually stunning and enjoyable for a wide range of abilities.

The Not So Good

Some visitors note that drainage can be an issue after heavy rains, resulting in softer fairways and wet rough in places. Others wish for expanded food and beverage options at the turn and more on-course restrooms, especially during busy tournament weekends.
