Course Report
Edgewood Tahoe hosts the annual celebrity-packed American Century Championship and previously hosted the 1985 U.S. Senior Open. In 2021, its lakeside holes were used for the NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe hockey games.
About
Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course is a celebrated resort course on the shores of Lake Tahoe designed by George Fazio in 1968 and refined by Tom Fazio. Blending mountain and lake scenery, it offers a challenging-yet-fair championship layout recognized for hosting the American Century Championship and previously U.S. Senior Open. Four sets of tees accommodate all skill levels.
Caddie Tip
Take extra care with yardage due to the course's 6,200-foot altitude; shots travel farther than at sea level. Course knowledge is crucial, especially for the risk-reward closing stretch. Pay attention to the lake as it subtly affects green breaks and always check the wind direction before selecting a club.
The Main Challenge
The biggest challenge is the risk-reward closing stretch, notably holes 16 to 18, where water, swirling winds, strategic bunkering, and altitude-inflated yardages combine for a dramatic and demanding finish. Fast, sloping greens and penal native rough require precision throughout the course.
The Good
Golfers consistently rave about the breathtaking setting on Lake Tahoe, especially the final stretch of holes along the lake. The blend of alpine and lakeside views, the lush fairways, and memorable ambiance of a PGA Tour-caliber finishing stretch make every round feel special.
The Not So Good
Some golfers comment on the premium pricing for both play and amenities, especially in peak summer periods. High demand during tournament weeks can make booking challenging, and occasional windy conditions can add difficulty that frustrates less experienced players.
Signature Hole:
#
17
The par-3 17th hole plays directly along the water’s edge of Lake Tahoe, with breathtaking views of the crystal-clear lake and snow-capped mountains. It demands a precise tee shot over water to a green flanked by bunkers, with swirling high-altitude winds amplifying the challenge and drama for every golfer.
Clubhouse
Edgewood’s modern clubhouse boasts fine and casual dining, event spaces with panoramic views, luxurious locker rooms, a fully stocked pro shop, and attentive guest service. Adjacent to a luxury lodge, amenities also include a spa, lakeside patio, and private beach access.
Practice Facilities
The course features a full driving range, pitching and chipping areas, and a spacious putting green. Golfers have access to a well-appointed pro shop, club rentals, and a team of teaching professionals for lessons, ensuring complete warm-up and game improvement options.
