Course Report

For many years, Glyfada Golf Club was the only golf course in Greece, and it hosted the 27th World Cup Series after Robert Trent Jones renovated it in 1979.

About

Glyfada Golf Club of Athens is Greece’s historic 18-hole course, designed in 1962 by Donald Harradine, with later renovations by Robert Trent Jones Sr.. The parkland-style course offers undulating terrain, pine-lined fairways, and small well-protected greens, challenging golfers of all skill levels. Glyfada is tightly routed and set near the seaside in Athens.

Caddie Tip

Greens are tricky with few straight putts—focus on reading slopes accurately, especially on downhill holes. Tight routes with many doglegs demand solid course management. Aim to keep your tee shots straight, avoiding mature pines to keep approach shots manageable.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge at Glyfada is avoiding the mature pine trees and properly strategizing the doglegs left and right. Small, well-protected greens make approach shots demanding, and sloping fairways often leave players tricky uphill or downhill lies.

The Good

Golfers love Glyfada Golf Club for its tranquil seaside setting, friendly staff, and easy walkability. The parkland layout is praised for mature pine trees and varied doglegs, making each round engaging. The welcoming clubhouse atmosphere and classic Greek hospitality are also a highlight.

The Not So Good

Players often comment on inconsistent course conditions, including bunkers that lack sand and greens that vary greatly in speed. Better maintenance, improved distance markers, and more care for the fairways and tee boxes are common requests for upgrades.
