Course Report

Each of Atunyote's holes is named after a native bird, and the course regularly sees bald eagles and hawks soaring over the property.

About

Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort is a Tom Fazio-designed championship layout featuring 18 holes stretching over 7,300 yards. Opened in 2004, the course is known for its immaculate conditioning, rolling parkland landscape, extensive water features, and tournament pedigree. It has hosted multiple PGA Tour events and stands as the resort’s premier golf experience.

Caddie Tip

Favor the center of the greens and avoid attacking pins tucked near water, especially on Atunyote's long par 3s and finishing holes. On the back nine, swirling winds and subtle elevation changes make club selection crucial—when in doubt, take an extra club to avoid the extensive bunkering and water hazards that guard most approach shots.

The Main Challenge

Atunyote’s greatest challenge is its length from the back tees combined with numerous water hazards and well-bunkered greens. Strategic drives are required to set up favorable angles, especially on the par 5s, and approach shots must be precise to avoid deep bunkers and closely mown runoffs that demand a tidy short game.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise Atunyote’s lush fairways, quick greens, and tranquil, beautifully landscaped setting with abundant water features and wildlife. The Tom Fazio design offers challenging but fair play for all abilities, and the country club atmosphere is felt from the practice range to the elegant clubhouse, making each visit feel special and memorable.

The Not So Good

Guests sometimes mention that high green fees and mandatory resort stays during peak times can make access and affordability an issue. Several also wish for more on-course refreshment options and note that heavy rains can leave front nine fairways playing soft, affecting roll and approach.

Signature Hole:

#

18

The 18th hole, a par 5 named 'Bald Eagle,' is a memorable closer stretching nearly 600 yards from the back tees. With a meandering creek, demanding second shot, and a large, undulating green framed by water, this finisher requires both power and precision, challenging golfers to avoid the hazards while capitalizing on a birdie opportunity.
