Course Report

Woodstock Country Club was named the #1 Top Golf Course in Vermont by Golf Advisor and is listed among the top 100 golf resorts in the world by Golf Magazine.

About

Woodstock Country Club in Vermont is an 18-hole par-70 course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Set in the scenic Kedron Valley, this course features classic strategic routing, panoramic mountain views, and a mix of challenging fairways, water hazards, and sand traps. Recognized as one of New England’s best golf resorts, it offers a memorable experience for players of all levels.

Caddie Tip

Strategic tee shots are rewarded here: favor the center of fairways and avoid the creek that comes into play on back-nine holes, especially 12 and 13. Approaches must be precise—greens are small but receptive, making distance control key. Take advantage of short par 4s but respect every water hazard.

The Main Challenge

The toughest part of Woodstock’s layout is its narrow, tree-lined fairways and strategically placed water hazards—especially the long creek impacting multiple back-nine holes. Accuracy from the tee and on approaches is essential. Small, undulating greens reward precision and can challenge even seasoned players.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise the tranquil mountain setting, classic Robert Trent Jones design, and pristine course conditions. The walkability and friendly, welcoming staff create a relaxing and enjoyable playing experience. The 12th and 13th holes with their water hazards and views stand out as favorites.

The Not So Good

While the course is well maintained, some players note that the par 3s offer little length variety and that a few holes on the front nine lack strategic interest. Stretching the layout or refreshing bunkering could add further excitement to the design.

Signature Hole:

#

12

No items found.

The 12th hole, a picturesque par 4, is considered Woodstock’s signature. The tee shot plays along a meandering creek to a fairway guarded by water left and bunkers right. The approach challenges golfers to a well-contoured green framed by Vermont’s lush scenery, making accuracy and strategy vital for par.

Clubhouse

No items found.

Golfers enjoy a well-equipped clubhouse with locker rooms, a pro shop, and The Fairway Grille restaurant for casual dining. The staff are recognized as among the friendliest in the country, and the comfortable patio seating makes for a relaxing finish to your round.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Woodstock offers a full driving range, short game area, and a large putting green. The facility provides private instruction, group clinics, and a recently updated pro shop with modern amenities. Guests will find the practice range well-maintained and conveniently located near the starting holes.
