Course Report

Camargo is regarded as one of the finest and purest Seth Raynor courses in the world, and is a frequent fixture on global Top 100 lists despite its low profile and limited outside play.

About

Camargo Club is a private, Seth Raynor-designed course in the rolling lands of Indian Hill near Cincinnati, known for its deep bunkers, squared-off greens, and strategic variety. Opened in 1925, Camargo consistently ranks among the world's elite for its classically inspired architecture, walkability, and understated elegance. Membership is highly exclusive.

Caddie Tip

On Camargo's contoured greens, speed and break are often deceptive. Trust your yardages and play for the safest side of Raynor’s missed greens, especially on redan and punchbowl holes. Conservative play yields lower scores—avoid the aggressive line unless you know the angles. Study the large greens carefully to avoid three putts.

The Main Challenge

Camargo’s biggest test is found on approach play to its heavily contoured, squared-off greens, many protected by deep bunkers. Powerful, inventive green sites and smartly placed hazards demand precise iron play. The hilly terrain adds further challenge, especially for those walking.

The Good

Golfers cherish Camargo's strategic variety and the opportunity to experience classic Seth Raynor template holes, such as Redan and Biarritz, impeccably integrated into rolling Midwestern terrain. The walkable, serene setting and superb green complexes make every round an immersive, thoughtful golf experience.

The Not So Good

As with many elite private clubs, Camargo sometimes receives comments regarding the difficulty of obtaining guest access and occasional wait times for tee times, particularly during peak season. Also, some golfers wish for more amenities or practice space given the club’s prestige.

Signature Hole:

#

2

No items found.

The par 5 second hole, 'Valley,' features a dramatic dogleg right with a risk-reward tee shot. A fairway bunker guards the inside corner, while the green is set over a sweeping valley and protected by clever bunkering. Going for the green in two is the bold option after a solid drive, making this hole a memorable early highlight.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The classic clubhouse overlooks the course and offers upscale dining, locker rooms, and private gathering spaces. The experience is elegant and traditional, with an emphasis on history and comfort rather than extravagance.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Camargo offers an understated but well-maintained practice range, short-game area, and putting green. Facilities focus on fundamentals; expect a quiet atmosphere aimed at serious practice rather than hitting balls for entertainment.
