Course Report

TPC Louisiana is home to Louisiana’s only annual PGA TOUR event, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, and features over 100 bunkers and habitat for native alligators.

About

TPC Louisiana Golf Club, designed by Pete Dye with consultation from Steve Elkington and Kelly Gibson, is a championship venue near New Orleans. Host of the PGA TOUR's Zurich Classic, it offers 18 holes across 7,425 yards of meticulously maintained Bermuda grass, set among wetlands and cypress trees. The course provides a challenging yet fair test for all skill levels.

Caddie Tip

Watch for prevailing winds off the wetlands, especially on the finishing holes. On the 18th, stay left off the tee to avoid the lake, and approach shots should favor the left side of the green to steer clear of water. The greens are quick with subtle slopes; aim for below the hole whenever possible.

The Main Challenge

The toughest challenge at TPC Louisiana is the combination of penal water hazards and deep bunkering, particularly from holes 16–18. The closing holes demand accuracy off the tee and on approach, with risk-reward options for aggressive players but little room for error. Fast, subtly breaking greens test even expert putters.

The Good

Golfers praise TPC Louisiana for its strategic variety, with dynamic risk-reward holes and PGA TOUR-quality conditions. The closing stretch, beginning at hole 16, offers excitement and challenge, especially when the wind picks up. The natural surroundings and proximity to New Orleans make it a favorite for visitors and locals alike.

The Not So Good

Some players report that, outside of tournament prep, the greens can fluctuate in speed and turf quality, especially during peak summer heat. Wetlands can cause soggy conditions after heavy rains, impacting drainage and playability in low-lying areas of the course.

The clubhouse offers a full-service restaurant and bar overlooking the 18th green, modern locker rooms, a well-stocked pro shop, banquet facilities, and outdoor patio seating. Event and meeting spaces are available for groups and tournaments.
